by Al Wl Our neighbors were forced to put in a new septic tank and weepers ... so their entire backyard was dug up by a monster of a machine. Shortly after, during a strong wind, our previously truncated 50 year old giant willow, now with a fresh crown of shoots, careened over onto another neighbor's brand new $7000 shed, partially crushing its roof ~ so they called in the police as I was hacking away at it myself and not calling in the professional power saw noise squad. I told them that I had nothing to do with the wind blowing in that precise direction; the cop suggested I call in one of the City's inspectors for the estimate. Days later I noticed a new double line of extra tall, wired hydro poles along a main artery being widened [because next year the City will begin construction of a major bridge spanning the Rideau River] ... turns out the City inspectors goofed in the measurements by a few feet ~ good thing I had not listened to that out-of-shape neighbor with the second shed, swimming pool, sauna, patio and new roof ~ all built by contractors from the Quebec side.
